FAQ's

What is Equine Assisted Therapy?

Equine Assisted Therapy is a therapeutic approach that uses the natural connection between humans and horses to promote emotional healing, self-awareness, and personal growth. Sessions are conducted on the ground—no riding experience is needed.

How does EAT help with mental health?

Horses mirror our emotions, helping us notice patterns, regulate our nervous system, and practice mindfulness. Combined with counselling support, this can enhance self-awareness, confidence, and emotional resilience.

Who can benefit from EAT?

EAT is especially effective for adults and late teens facing challenges such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, attachment issues, substance use, and other personal or psychological concerns.

What happens during a session?

Activities may include grooming, leading, and observing the horse’s responses. With the guidance of a qualified counsellor, you’ll explore emotions, develop coping skills, and process challenges in a safe and supportive environment.

Do I need prior experience with horses?

How long is a session and how many are needed?

Sessions typically last 60 minutes. The number of sessions depends on your personal goals and needs, which will be discussed in your initial session and can be revised throughout your therapy.

No experience is necessary. Horses are intuitive and respond to emotions, providing gentle feedback that supports personal insight and growth.

Is it Safe?

Yes. All sessions are conducted on the ground in a controlled environment with trained horses and therapists. Your safety and comfort are a top priority.
